Mobility Scheme: Jamtli Proposal

The hosting institution: Jamtli is well known within the museum world for its educational work and has indoor cultural history, archaeological and art exhibitions and a relatively large open air museum with living history. Jamtli employs approximately 120 people and is organised in five departments.

Job shadowing

 

Length of stay

1-3 weeks, depending on the period and type of activity. The applicant and the host institution will jointly discuss the length of the stay.

 

Characteristics of applicants

Individuals applying for job shadowing at Jamtli should have a background in museum education and have high proficiency in English or a Scandinavian language.

 

Period and activities

October 2012

The learning department runs a programme directed towards teenagers (14-15 years old) focusing on xenophobia and the asylum seeking process. During a few hours the teenagers get to play the role of asylum seekers in different stages of the asylum process. The open-air museum is the setting of the programme which has been running for six to seven years. During this period the job shadower could also take part in the work of the Jamtli open pre-school.

June 2012

At this time of the year the open air museum offers a whole range of outdoor activities, mainly for children but also for grown-ups, including time travel and first person interpretation.
